If you bonus time a shot when pay the piper is active, does the ratcatchers player gain one or two momentum? It's a timing issue I think.

So basically do you pay the piper once when you declare a shot and once when you declare bonus timing it?

OR

Do you pay the piper once when you actually use two momentum for a bonus timed shot on goal?

In addition, are defensive stance and counter attack two separate incidents netting two momentum for ratcatchers, or are they both a response to the same trigger and therefore paid at the same time and only netting one momentum for the ratcatchers?

Sorry for posting after "Checking", but 1 MP is spent when a model declares a shot (step 1) and bonus time MP is spent during step 3 according to this:

Bonus Time!
When resolving a TN test, a model may spend [1] MP to add a single die to the dice-pool before rolling. This may only be done once per TN test after all other modifiers to the dice-pool have been factored in.

Clearly those are different timings of using momentum, hence separate cases for Pay the Piper application.

Concerning the second question, I believe that 'Each time...' in the CP description implies rather a separate case of using momentum than the timing when it happens (otherwise one could claim that Take a Breather!, Come on Mate! and Gliding should give away only 1 MP, as they can be used at the same moment of time during the activation).

I guess that applies to Defensive Stance and Counter Attack as well: although they are used at the same time ("After a Charge is declared..."), they have different functions and should be considered separate cases.

We are checking on this and are including:

Using bonus time and gliding as they are not actions, declaring defence stance and counter attack in response to an attack, plays using Last Light, AoEs hitting multiple targets being bonus timed.

(Take a Breather and Come on Mate are both actions that have to be used independently without interrupting another action, they can not be used simultaneously and so each counts as a separate time of using momentum)

Answer:

Pay the Piper: Each time an enemy model spends MP within this aura, the friendly team gains [1]MP.

Each separate declaration of spending MP counts as a separate time. For example, an enemy declaring a defence stance and counter attack in response to a charge would net Piper's friendly team 2 MP. A further 1 MP would be gained if the counter attack then uses Bonus Time!
