      Training Ground   02/14/2018

There’s a new section in the guild ball area designed to help rookies, but it needs others to help out - why not write a post for it? Anything that’s good for people to know, whatever faction they’re starting out with!

Attracting new players

Recommended Posts

So on Wednesday I will be running another demo day in Abu Dhabi. What would people say is the best way of demoing the game for new players? Also how would people go about getting new players into the game? It has not been easy here where as a little drive up the road it seems to be going well in Dubai.

In your situation, I would recommend you get in touch with the guys in Dubai and see if you could host an event in Abu Dhabi. People are always most interested in a game if they can see other people enjoying it right in front of them. Have the event in a public place (game store, etc.), and some people might stop by just to see what the action is. Then rope them in for a demo game while they're there!

Also I'd recommend if you have them to take with you models from the metal line. And definitely painted up. If you have enough, have some models on the sidelines that people can pick up and look while you're playing.

For many players the models are very important and I feel Guild Ball has a very sharp and topnotch metal line. If you showcase the game with pvc the players who enjoy the hobby aspect as well won't be very interested I reckon.

I think with most demo games the most important thing is a super enthusiastic person leading it, nicely painted models and a inviting gaming area. I think if you're the right person and truly believe in the game you're trying to show to players, you can most people excited about it before even speaking about rules.

Enthusiasm and persistance are the two most important things. It's sort of a convert one person at a time sort of thing... but generally enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm I'm finding. :P
