SEASON 2 VASSAL

FEATURES

UPDATED SCATTER

From Season 2 the ball is now scattered from the edge of the model it's scattering from or the ball if you are targeting open ground. To make this work I've had to alter things a bit.

Kick Scatter is now on [Ctrl+A]. If you hit this while the ball is selected it will bring up the Kick Scatter as before. If you hit it while a player (or the Goal) is selected it will move the ball to the player and set up the Kick Scatter relative the Player (or Goal) rather than the ball (As you can see the template matches Vet Katalyst's base).

Standard Scatter is now on [Ctrl+D]. If you hit this while the ball is selected it will bring up the Standard Scatter as before. If you hit it while a player is selected it will move the ball to the player and set up the Standard Scatter relative the Player rather than the ball (As you can see the template matches Vet Katalyst's base).

If you drag the ball off the Player it should reset to the ball.

UPDATED TEMPLATES

I've done a small update to AoEs, along with adding Nature's Growth. All Condition AoEs and Cover now have a 4" aura you can toggle on with Ctrl+W. This makes it easier to reposition with Smoke, as you can now put up the Aura, clone the AoE and then position it within 4". Nature's Growth also has a 3" Aura so you can make sure it's not within 3" of a piece of terrain, also brought up with Ctrl+W

Using Nature's Growth

  1. Use [CTRL+8] to put up a 8" aura on Theron.
  2. Pull the Nature's Growth Template down from the Template section of the Roster.
  3. Select the Template and press [CTRL+W] to bring up a 3" exclusion zone on the Template.
  4. Place the Template so it's touching or within Therons 8" aura and so there are no Obstructions, Barriers or Forest within the AOE's exclusion zone.

To make it easier for Smoke move Templates, a new function has been added to the Condition AOEs.

Using Smoke's Chemical Breeze

1. Check the AOE is in range by putting up a 6" aura on Smoke [CTRL+6]

2. Put up a 4" guide on the AOE by selecting it and hitting [Ctrl+W]

3. You can't see the AOE while dragging it so clone the aura [CTRL+C] and drag it where you want so that part of it is touch or within the green line.

4. Delete the old AOE [CTRL+X] and hide the guide line on the new AOE [CTRL+W]

In addition to adding the helpful guides for Chemical Breeze and Nature's Growth I have updated the graphics.

They are now much more transparent when they are selected, also there is a new command [CTRL+E] which hides the graphics even when not selected.

Season 2 Plots

As you can choose which seasons Plots you use, both sets are available. To select the season open up the Plots window and then click on the button at the top of the Plot Window. Season 1 have a white background and Season 1 characters on the back. Season 2 a black background and Season 2 characters on the back... You select and claim cards just like before once you have selected which deck you are using.

Vassal Campaign System

With the Season 2 book we now have a Campaign system. In the new version of Vassal you will be able to create a Campaign Plot deck, save it then load it back when you play your game. It also comes with the ability to Report all the cards in your deck before the game starts.
First thing to do is make sure you are logged in as 'Home Team' or 'Visiting Team', you will only be able to use your own Plot Deck during a game, so to build a deck you need to identify as one of the sides. Don't worry about which side as you will be able to load the deck you create into whichever side you choose when you come to your actual game.

The Cards to make up your Campaign Plot deck can be found in the Roster under Plots. They are seperated into sets, and Rare cards will have the [R] prefix.
You can drag the cards onto the play area (it's also possible to delete them using Ctrl+X). Pull cards into here until you are happy with your final 12.

13007139_10209718789545602_3187601305579

When you are happy with your final 12, you can select them all and send them to your Campaign Deck Window by hitting Ctrl+Alt+D (or by dragging them in). Once that is done, just right click on the deck to save it ready for your league game.

13062029_10209718829026589_2682910762194

When it comes to your game, you can just open your deck window and right click on the empty deck space you load in your Plot Deck. Once it is loaded you can hit the Report button to inform the opponent of the contents of your Campaign Deck.

13062091_10209718837306796_7601838239281

From there the Campaign Plot decks work just like the normal plot deck. So you just need to drag out 7 cards. Claim [Ctrl+C] the 5 you are going to use, and delete [Ctrl+X] the 2 which you are not using.

Updated Terrain

In the new version of Vassal all the Terrain has been updated to work better with the Organised Play document. Obstructions and Barriers have the area they grant cover to marked, and Fast-Ground, Rough-Ground and Forests all have much more defined edges.

You can find all the Terrain separated into categories in the Roster.

Traps

Some of the new Season 2 models such as Jaecar, Chaska and Mother have Traps. These can be found in the Roster, under the character that can create them, they have the [T] prefix

I've done a few fixes, so it's worth downloading v5 again. I'll do a proper version number after I've had a few days of fixes..

FIXES
1. Zarola no longer is pretending to be the Guild Captian with fake beard and all.
2. Arrow to the Knee is no longer [-4"/-4"] MOV because that was nasty.
3. You can now be the Home team in the Predefined Setups.

Fantastic work!

For some reason Ctrl+A isn't working for me though.

It sometimes can be really slow unfortunately... I wish I could think of a better way to do it.

Totally rebuilt it from the ground up.. think the function works better now. Will release a v5.1 tonight or early tomorrow with the update + any other bugs we find.. So start seeing if you can find any errors.
