  2. So, after the huge success of the rookie league, it was hinted at during the V3 Keynotes Q&A that this years event was going to be based around a "Rookie Academy.. With this in mind I have a few speculations regarding how this could work.. Scenario 1 : Similar to last years event, Guilds are pitted head to head sharing a rookie player with the "winning" guild receiving a full "squaddie" version of the player later in the year. While I am not directly opposed to this there are some guilds that are more "fan favourites" (Butchers, Brewers, Union, etc) and as such these teams will probably need to be placed against each other or just win.. Also, based on the outcry from the "losing" guilds after the previous years event, I can't see the guys at SFG wanting to upset a portion of their player base again.. Scenario 2 : Every guild has access to a selection of "neutral" rookies which are also available to other guilds.. Points are earned by playing Rookie League games during this period and once the event ends the community gets to vote on which rookie player ends up going to which guild kinda like an NFL draft.. While I think this would be fun, the logistics would be a bit of a pain and could result in some guilds ending up with "leftovers" as all their available rookies get drafted before their turn to choose.. Scenario 3 : Every guild gets their own rookie to use in Rookie League games for this period and players report how they have chosen to progress their respective rookie. Once the event is over all these results are compiled and the most regularly selected upgrades become the stats, plays and traits which end up on their "squaddie" card when they get promoted in the following s4/s5 seasons.. This is probably my favourite scenario out of the three and would ensure every guild gets a thing.. It would also be far easier for SFG to control and balance mechanics to fit within each guilds theme.. Either way, I'm sure the event will be fun and I can't wait to see what new shinies we get to play with.. Does anyone have any other thoughts or potential scenarios which they could base this event around.? #saveamber

    Not About Guild Ball

So this isn't necessarily about Guild Ball but it is happening as a direct result of my going to SteamCon. Nearly 4 years ago I was fortunate enough to meet a really great girl who supports me in everything I do. She is coming with to Chicago but not attending SteamCon, as she is going to be doing a lot of shopping and doesn't care for miniatures. This Sunday night we are going ice skating at Millennium Park after the convention and I'm going to ask her to be my wife. I'm pretty excited and I spend more time here (to my boss's dismay) than I do with most of my friends and I consider a lot of you to be brothers and sisters in our big Guild Ball forum family. Just thought I'd share with everyone. I'll post pictures sometime Monday morning as I am feeling pretty confident. **Added an image, others on my friends' phones. Will put them up when I can. Center ice was a little crowded to do it in front of everyone so I pretended my lace came undoneand when I got down to "tie it" I popped the question. Great grandma's ring. She was as happy as can be. Had great friends willing to just hang out for a bit to get pictures. Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Had a great weekend.

    Big Tournament decisions

Hey guys, looking to brainstorm off of you. I am playing a pretty competitive tournament scene in the next few months and I have an interesting conundrum. My core looks like this Esters, Tapper, Scum, Spigot, Friday, Mash, Hooper. This leaves me with 3 open slots, which I am considering Harry, Pintpot, Stoker, Lucky, Hemlock. Leaning towards Pintpot (concussion on windle is great), Harry for goad and fire AOE control and 2 inch. Lucky is a great damage dealer and possible game winning striker, and also the condition removal can be crucial. Stoker seems a little redundant with Hooper and Spigot as secondary damage dealers (although with esters can be replacement for Hooper). Hemlock has blind control, aoe condition removal, as well as ranged damage and poison. Let me know what you prefer and why and in competitive games what works best for you. Thanks!

  7. Hey lawyers, Can we please have some clarity on the wording of Skulk’s Goal Rats trait? The wording is ‘if a free-ball is placed in this aura in base contact with the friendly goalpost, except when resolving a scatter, this model immediately gains control of the Ball marker’ As written it seems that the only way for this to trigger is from a model unsnapping the ball in base contact with the goal. The intent seems to be for missed goal shots. But a missed shot causes a scatter. So either this is intended to only work for unsnaps, in which case the wording is fine, or for goal shots, where it isn’t? Some people in the community are suggesting a difference between ‘resolving’ and ‘resolved’, I.e. the intent is to allow a scatter to happen before the trait triggers, but the Ball is only placed once during a scatter - at the end of process. So that interpretation would seem to make the wording redundant? The Ball isn’t placed on a successful or failed pass or shot until the scatter resolution (in the case of a fail) and in a pass to space the Ball is placed in part 4 of the kicking sequence THEN a scatter is resolved. During a scatter the only place is at the end of the scatter. Therefore unsnapping is the only (Maybe there’s a play that lets you? Can’t think from the top of my head...) means of placing the ball that DOESN’T cause a scatter. Everything else - including shots - would scatter and therefore be exempt?

    Steamcon USA

Just wanting to make sure of the rules before I start practicing (I need it). The 64 man last chance qualifier will not have GIC's or alternate deployment correct? Very excited about this trip as it is my first con experience!

    Steamcon USA

Did SF say which US city would host Steamcon 2017? Any hints?
  12. I didn't go to SteamyCon, unfortunately, so didn't get any of the snazzy dice. Not that bothered by having a full set (got plenty of smaller dice for gaming) but I have got a little collection of show dice building up over the last year or two and seeing as the mystery box contained a single SteamCon die, I'm wondering if anyone is willing to part with a single die? I'm mainly looking at you, SteamCon-attendees-who-also-got-a-mystery-box! Send me a PM!
