    S4 Skatha

http://steamforged.com/sfg-news-blog/season-4-skatha She seems amazing! Season 4 looks really promising!
  2. Do Skatha's Snowboall goals provide 1INF in S4?
  3. In this video I play my Hunters vs my local opponent, Rich Arnold’s Farmers. We played at First Turn Games in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Hunters Skatha Theron Fahad Herne Seenah Jaecar Egret Zarola Chaska Ulfr Farmers Thresher Grange Bushel Peck Buckwheat Grace Jackstraw Harrow Tater Millstone
  4. Hi guys. I finally took the leap of faith and brought my Hunters to a tournament this Saturday. (I have always chickened out in the last second for another guild - the woes of owning to many guilds ) I have done some reflection and thoughts since and I did not originally intend to post this, but work is slow and I thought maybe someone could find it interesting. As such it is just my own opinions with rather small sample size and not facts, so treat it as such. Preface: Local 14 man tournament so 3-4 rounds. I was going to try Hemlocke as my Union slot as there were going to be some brewers, masons and farmers present. And for science. The Line Up: Skatha Theron Snow (shut up, I frikkin love the dog ) Jaecar oHearne Egret Ulfr Seenah Hemlocke Chaska Game 1: Thresher So first game I got matched with one of the top contender for the tournament rockin' his Farmers. So, obviously a though pairing, but I was glad I got try Hemlocke right off the bat. Skatha, Snow, Jaecar, Ulfr, Egret, Hemlocke v Thresher, Buckwheat, Millstone, Tater, Harrow, Jackstraw. I received. Score: 11-12 loss. 2 Ulfr goals (and one missed shot), Jaecar kills Tater and 1 clock point - Thresher/Tater kills Skatha and Jaecar, Jackstraw goal, Buckwheat goal. Hemlocke kept Thresher blinded. But he legendaried to counteract it one turn. So didn't feel super exciting. Her mT on 1 was at least a reliable ball steal threat. Ulfr was great. Easy access to momentum, wtg to get around counter charge or getting bogged down was really useful. Egret felt superflous here, but at least she is slippery. Snow is great. He makes it risky for Thresher/tater to go in, since missing the KD lets me dodge out, or they choosing a < instead of damage, or being forced to commit deeper. He was a missed tackle, a bad scatter upfield or a missed buckwheat goal from losing on time. I could have positioned Hemlocke to screen off a bit of the scatter angles, but I didn't see the ridiculous movement and kick range from Bucky. As close as it gets and a great game. Game 2: Midas Skatha, Snow, Jaecar, Ulfr, Chaska, Seenah v Midas, Naja, Vitriol, Mercury, Calculus, vKatalyst. I received. Score: 16-12 win 3 goals (2 Ulfr, 1 Skatha), Seenah killed Calculus, vKat Witnessed himself - 1 Midas goal, Vitriol pushed Chaska off the pitch after he received a super wide kick off, Mercury killed off Ulfrs last 3 hp with a flame jet after vKat failed to finish him off, vKat killed Seenah with witness me getting us both to 12 simultaneously. Ulfr slotted the goal after that. Ulfr was great. 2 goals, and got an opportunity for another but missed the tackle on Midas. While Seenah was pretty great. Influence was pretty tight receiving turn 1 when you want to pass around and have a goal run inf gets eaten up quickly. So I will probably use Seenah more when kicking, to have a powerful last activation. Chaska, gotten pushed off early did not impact too much (3/6 kick was useful though), the choice however was to let vitriol have the ball but I figured the ball was more important. Jaecar mostly kept Vitriol in check on a flank. Game 3: Blackheart Skatha, Snow, Jaecar, Ulfr, Chaska, oHearne v Blackheart, Strongbox, Mist, Minx, Gutter, oRage. I received. Score: 12-8 win 2 goals (Ulfr, Skatha), oHearne/Jaecar killed off mist after a failed goal run (missed his m< on Jaecar who promptly dodged away due to pack mentality leaving him stranded to kick the ball home) and Chaska caught a Gutter within 8" of the table edge and boomed her off - 1 Blackheart goal, Ulfr and Skatha both died after scoring. I really liked this line up. oHearne once again cemented to me his superiority over vHearne, he just runs so smoothly even without a forest. My heart ached a little leaving the lovely model home in the morning, but I am now firmly set on leaving vHearne out of the 10. Chaska was solid. Received and kicked it back, while setting up a trap to lower mists ball threat and tough skin on himself to prevent momentum farming. Ulfr was great. With blessing of the moon goddess, snowball momentum, pass dodge, fast ground, and a model he got a charge off, he zoomed over the board and was in tap in range with blood scent end of turn 1. What a rock star. Paid the iron price for it though, as he is wont to do. Tournament ended at 3 rounds. End result 2-1 (and 39vps in 3 games despite losing one ) End thoughts I received every game. This obviously is nice and makes the Ulfr experience better than might be the average (that 1st turn goal is sweet). But I have been pretty down on Ulfr before, and he smashed my previous beliefs by scoring 5 goals even after 1 missed shot and 2 missed tackles on Midas for another (not being able to charge UM models makes it less consistent) Skatha. She might have had an edge in stealing the ball from unexpected opponents due to them never seen her. But her 4" (snowball) + 9" (fast ground sprint) + legendary + 2-3" (m><</><<< off an nearby model) + 1" (mT>< off the ball holder) + 6" (shot) = a very non linear 22" Blackhearty kind of goal run. Takes 6 inf for this particular move though. Otherwise she just turns up the turn 1 of Ulfr and the Bear to 11 or just gets 2 inf for snowballing herself or someone else out of danger or just a cold snap. I actually never missed Minx. This was surprising to me. She will probably still be in over Hemlocke, but I didn't feel like the world depended on her. Snow is bae. Fits my noncommittal playstyle better than Fahad. Ooh ball and extra kick dice helps a bit when passing around and such, and anatomical is just the cherry on top. Hunters are bloody fun! And I really liked the dodgy/trappy playstyle with a lot of movement and goals. I was never ever near timing out, whilst some opponents were and did. This takes a lot of mental stress away from me during tournament days - hence why I prefer Skatha over Theron, since his games tend to be more grindy and ending with a goal. I probably will try to fit in Zarola in the 10. I think Seenah and Egret are the most likely to go, but both have their uses. So we will see I guess. If you read this far, thank you for your time and Happy Hunting!

    The hunters are bleeding!

A game against a butcher friend. Skatha, Fahad, vHearn, Jaecar, Minx, Chaska with Bait the Trap Vs Fillet, Truffle, Shank, Brisket, Boar, Meathook with Crushing force I engage the ball. He will pick it up with Meathook. I send Jaecar and Minx to start cutting it. Chaska pulls a boom box on Shank. I win the initiative because he missed all his passes. Turn 2: Jaecar kills Meathook and Gut & string Boar. Fillet kills Minx. Chaska, vHearn and Fahad kill Fillet. Shank has the ball. 4/2 Turn 3: Jaecar gives a small Gut & string on Boar so that he remains paralyzed in the middle of the field and leaves it at 5 HP. I am serene. But Fillet returns to Chaska and kills him. My opponent makes a mistake with blood rain and tells me that everyone in the 3" gets bleed and also takes 2 + 1 damage from the CP. As Fillet makes his Legendary play behind, Fahad dies, but in reality he does not. It should not have taken the 3 HP of blood rain, it's a turning point in the game because Fahad had to go charging Boar in the process and kill him. What's done is done ... It raises my opponent. Hearn tackles the ball and passes it to Skatha who will score a goal. My opponent raises on Brisket who scores a goal in stride. I also made the mistake of bringing back Minx on the same side as Fillet (I had 3 players on this side at the beginning of the turn), and Meathook kills her. I lose the initiative. 8/11 Turn 4: He finally charges Jaecar with Boar and kills him. Victory of butchers 8/12. I wanted to test Skatha against the butcher. It works pretty well. Not as much as Theron. Clearly the error on blood raine completely changes the game. A nice game !

    Ice broke the wall

My opponent who plays masons is a beginner but he is already beginning to handle the trowel. Skatha, Fahad, vHearn, Jaecar, Minx, Zarola with Bait the Trap Hammer Vs, Marbles, Brick, Mallet, Flint, Tower with Built to Last He engages the ball with Brick. I get the ball with Skatha and give it to Fahad to score a goal with him and not Skatha who reserves for a second goal. But he blocks me with the counter charges and I could not score with the panther. I return the ball to Skatha. I start to do momentum thanks to Minx and Jaecar who get into Brick and Flint. Built to Last is really good with Tower. Masons are even more resistant ! I win the initiative. Turn 2: Skatha snared the monkey and Hammer and gives the ball to Hearn who will benefit from the fast ground and rough ground bonuses. Minx and Jaecar start beating Flint but Minx takes Tower right after. Hammer is far from everything and does not see Hearn's threat coming. Brick begins to crush Minx. Hearn teleports to the goal with Lunar eclipse and scores a goal. The ball goes back to Flint, who only has one HP left but who manages to kill Minx and save himself. Fahad charges Marbles. I win the initiative. 4/2 Turn 3: I miss all my attacks with Hearn on Tower which is really hard to fall. Minx is so fast. She is back in the game but don't kill Flint Mallet and Jaecar are banging on each other. Brick, Tower and Hammer kill Hearn. Flint, who feels the near end, gives the ball to Tower. Skatha taps the monkey for momentum, kills the monkey and gets closer to the ball. I win the initiative. 5/2 Turn 4: I'm starting to be clocked. Yes I am very slow! Skatha begins. She does her Legendary play, steals the ball, tries to kill Flint but does not make it and scores a goal before fleeing. The planthère kills Flint and takes Tower and the monkey on it but resists thanks to Nimble. Brick, Hammer and Mallet play hide and seek with Jaecar and Minx. 11/4 + 6 clock points We are tied at the momentum level but luck is with me and I win the initiative. Turn 5: I have only one point left to score. I send Skatha on the monkey and kill him for the point of victory! 12/10 A very good game against an opponent who learns the game but starts to master it well. I must play faster!

    Some beers in the forest

A nice party against a friend's brewers. Skatha, Fahad, vHearn, Jaecar, Minx, Zarola with Bait the Trap Vs Tapper, Scum, Friday, Hooper, Spigot, Stave with Another Round I engage the ball with Skatha far into the forest. He can not go get her. I get the ball and snared almost everyone with Skatha and Minx. Jaecar starts banging Spigot. I lead to momentum and gain initiative. End of turn 1: Turn 2: I put a goal with Skatha, who will then be bitten by Tapper and Hooper. She has 1 HP left. Minx plays with Stave. The ball is restarted on Friday. Hearn comes to retrieve the ball and teleport but he lacks an influence to shoot at the goal. Friday takes the ball back but can not get out of Hearn's scrum. Jaecar cuts Spigot but does not kill it yet. I win the initiative. 4/0 Turn 3: Hearn tries to get the ball back to Friday but misses his three attacks on her. It's my fault, I forgot to count the snared (she was 3/1 and not 4/1). Skatha dies in atrocious suffering. Minx charges Friday and wrap, allowing her to tackle the ball and dodge away to score a goal. Friday gets the ball back and I can not stop her from scoring. I am clocked and the game becomes complicated for me because of it. Tapper and Hooper come knocking on Hearn. Jaecar lets Spigot bleed until he dies. Nobody can heal him and he will die. I lose the initiative 10/6 + 3 clock points. Turn 4: My opponent can win if he manages to score with Friday. But thanks to Bait the Trap, she is snared. She can go get the ball but can not generate momentum. Jaecar comes to charge her to kill her and score the last two points of the victory. 12/9 Very good part. I hope this will help us bring Hemlocke back to his place in the forest.
  8. If a Skatha is in possession of both the Ball Marker and a Snowball Marker and declares a kick, at what point in the kicking sequence must she decide which marker will go to the receiving model. Is it legal to wait until after the target number test to determine kick accuracy to decide which marker will be given to the receiving model? Can she wait until after the scatter is resolved?

Butchers get lost in the woods

Played my Hunters into Butchers the other day trying out some of the Winters Moon models for the first time. Hunters: Skatha, Fahad, Vet Hearne, Jaecar, Minx, and Seenah. Buchers: Fillet, Princess, Boiler, Boar, Meathook, and Vet Ox Hunters won the roll off and chose to receive believing that threatening the goal game against Butchers was the way to go. Fillet kicked the ball away from Skatha trying to hide it out of reach of Vet Hearne. After retrieving the ball I managed to pass it down the lines attempting to keep out of Fillet death range and managing to end it in the hands of Skatha, who set up fast ground for both her and Seenah to profit from. I managed to score first turn with Skatha and popped legendary while within range of 4 enemy models. Fillet managed to do a little hurt but Minx managed to dodge away on the counter leaving her to pain circle. Seenah managed to put a good hurt on Meathook who over extended a bit on tooling up Fillet. Hunters manage to win initiative and we start with the Bear who kills Meathook and charges Fillet putting a decent hurt and knockdown. Skatha gets ravaged by Butchers being stuck in the back field but managed to live. Minx and Hearne manage to finish off Fillet. Its now 8-0 Hunters but some of my guys are fairly bleed out and Butchers are playing some keep away. When stack of Fillet comes back on the pitch she managed to take out both an injured Minx and Vet Hearne securing herself the ball hoping to score if the game goes on. Skatha actives early and between her and Fahad try's to put some damage on Vet Ox before making her bloody exit... it's now 8-6... Seenah being the beast she is managed to Bear hug Vet Ox and left Jaecar to finish the poor dog... Hunters win 12-6 which what started out as just a walk in the forest ended up very bloody.
  10. Another tale of hunter prowess! Surely Hemlocke recognizes the greatness in her future employer? The teams were: Skatha (Go to ground) Snow Jaecar Egret Minx Seenah Corsair (Groundwork) Tentacles Sakana Hag oSiren Avarisse & Greede Highlights of the game: - Corsair drags Snow (was in the way of Egret) but misses Egret. Knocks the dog down and passes the ball to dodge back. - Egret gets a 4-man flurry. Spreading poison over the fish team. - Skatha misses a cold snap on Corsair. But the Bear goes in on him anyway thanks to a snowball and fast ground. The bear had been prepped with feral instincts as well. - The Bear then goes 1st turn 2 and leaves Corsair on 1 box sadly. - Turn 2 then sees the fish score a goal and kill Seenah. Uses basically all momentum gain to clear team of conditions, letting Hunters go 1st turn 3. (0-6) - Skatha legendaries and bounces around, getting the ball of siren and through a snowball pass to an engaged Jaecar gets the dodge to smack it into the goal post. (4-6) - Seenah Bear Hugs the snared and hurt Sakana with the help of Who are Ya? and Snow/Minx helping with the gang up. (7-6) - Egret kills the mascot with some well placed arrows and poisons Corsair (8-6) - Corsair gets bled and snared by Jaecar push dodging him into a pitfall trap, Jaecar eventually pays for this with his life by Avarisses club. Corsair Bleeds and Poisons to death (much thanks to the Bear beatdown earlier) (10-8) - After that 10vp Hunter turn, the fish were reeling and disheartened and could only watch as the Hunters and Skatha herself sunk 6 influence into oSiren and killing her next turn. (12-6) Hunters win 12-8!

    All Stars Game

Here is a fun one for you. Drop 2 Influence from each captain. Now drop any Legendary Play. Now make a team with no captain and any mascot you want. Who is your team? EDIT: To add a few constraints and clear up vagueness. Captains can now play where ever and are considered "friendly guild models." You may still use any mascot. Other normal team building rules apply.
  13. Greetings forum dwellers! Episode 7 of Run The Length is up! This time I play against Zachary Gray's Hunters. Zach is on the USA's WTC Team and was nice enough to play his off guild for me. Due to very fortunate timing the game uses the new OPD. Let me know your thoughts on the game by commenting here or on the video. Hit the like button it helps others find the series and share this with your buddies. Thanks for watching!
  14. If Skatha creates and unsnaps a snowball, such as to trigger Snow's Oooh... BALL!, does it prevent her from snapping the real ball marker later that activation or only the snowball?
