  1. Prior to MuseOn Con, David Pettigrew (missing1leg on the forums) had only 3 tournament games on Longshanks. The tournament hosted many strong players, including two former US WTC members, but David still found a way to win. This is his interview. http://midwestwargaming.com/interview-cinderella-man-david-pettigrew-museon-con-champ/
  2. https://midwestwargaming.podbean.com/e/episode-14-museon-con-wrap-up/ Dan and Lance return from our annual Iowa-based convention and we share our experiences. We both met lots of cool people and we do our best to namedrop and give thanks. In addition we cover lots of Falconer news and briefly talk about Vengeance, that other less important convention.
  3. Mike “the dog” Klein, last month you smashed whiskey and southern dreams by taking down the 50 person Old Jakes Howzat in South Carolina. And then just this past weekend you flew down from New York and carpetbagged the 63 person Spring Fling in Virginia. .... http://midwestwargaming.com/?p=4010&preview=true
  4. There were two big tournaments at Adepticon, the regionals and the Adepticon Championship. Alex Botts won the regionals and Zach won the Adepticon Championship and in doing so he did end up beating Botts and taking ownership of the Longshanks badge, the Bearer of the Torch. http://midwestwargaming.com/interview-adepticon-champion-zach-grey/
  5. Dan and Lance start off episode 11 with a discussion on the Ratcatchers with guest host Pete Kain from the podcast Rage Quit Wire. After we finish oozing about the new disease-ridden guild we segway over into a discussion about every guild and thier auto-include models. https://midwestwargaming.podbean.com/e/episode-11-rats-and-auto-includes-with-rage-quit-wire/
  6. In this video I play my Hunters vs my local opponent, Rich Arnold’s Farmers. We played at First Turn Games in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Hunters Skatha Theron Fahad Herne Seenah Jaecar Egret Zarola Chaska Ulfr Farmers Thresher Grange Bushel Peck Buckwheat Grace Jackstraw Harrow Tater Millstone
  7. In this latest Guild Ball article from Midwestwargaming we discuss one newbies dream of beating Thresher with some janky Brewers tech and one Master's cautious words of wisdom. http://midwestwargaming.com/explosive-brew-getting-vanvalue-list/ — Pat "VanValue" Van Valzah
  8. For our first episode of 2018 Lance and Dan break from thier normal news-reporting habits and get into the nitty gritty of Blacksmiths. Lance has been known to dabble in these waters and Dan has lost to his brother's Blacksmiths before so they are both experts. Come listen to thier expert opinons and they'll tell you why the midwest is right and why the UK is wrong. Oh, and if you like this podcast please take a moment to leave a review on iTunes, it really helps a lot with visibility. http://midwestwargaming.com/podcast/pitch-ep-8/
  9. Greetings all! This is Lance from the (I’m sure, soon to be) highly famous Guild Ball podcast, The Pitch What? No one gives a damn? Ok, cool… never mind then. I have been tasked to walk those interested in playing the newest team in the Empire of the Free Cities through the basics of opening the box and taking the starting six out for a spin. My hope is that this guide will help you avoid any confusion in your first attempt at playing this very unique team, as well as help you come to your own conclusions as to how to make them click for you in the first few play-throughs. The following is merely “suggestions” of how to begin thinking of each model and, of course, your mileage may vary. With all of those caveats let's get started: http://midwestwargaming.com/beginners-guide-blacksmiths/

    4-2 SteamCon US recap

At SteamCon US there was an awesome cosplayer who captured the image of Esters. My brother didn't cosplay but anyone who played against this loud drunk will definitely say that he captured the spirit of the Brewers. Now that he's sobered up Mike has written his recap. http://midwestwargaming.com/steamcon-usa-lcq-recap-brewers/
  11. As per usual, Dan and Lance start off by going over some latest SFG news items (resin reboxing, painting contest, ATC cancelled, new regional tournament struction). Then to switch it up a bit Lance and Dan do some shout-outs. Lance has been loving Guild Ball Scrum app and Dan really appreciates Tectonic Craft Studios. Next, Lance talks about his recent tournament experience at Geek City in North Liberty, IA and finally Dan & Lance talk more about some goals for 2018. http://midwestwargaming.com/podcast/pitch-ep-7/
  12. Interview with the man, the myth, the legend, Alex Botts. Everyone is talking about Thresher these days so I ask him his thoughts on the model along with some general questions about Farmers, how to get good, etc., etc. http://midwestwargaming.com/interview-2017-guild-ball-world-champion-alex-botts/
  13. Enjoy! http://midwestwargaming.com/statistical-analysis-guildball-season-3-updates-blacksmiths/
  14. Henry Kay took down the last chance qualifier at Steamcon UK and became the 7th person to qualify for the world championship. In this interview Henry Kay talks about his roster decision, shares some Vet Rage tactics, provides an in depth Seasoned Brisket battle report vs Thresher and explains why poor Fangtooth won't see his roster anytime soon. http://midwestwargaming.com/interview-henry-kay-steamcon-uk-lcq-winner/
  15. http://midwestwargaming.com/podcast/pitch-ep-5/ SteamCon UK just happened and holy crap the hype is real. Lance and Dan cover all the latest news from Steamcon UK, share our opinions and speculate on what we think might happen in the future. The Pitch is a podcast focused on discussing Steamforged’s sport-themed-wargame, Guild Ball. Lance Becker and Dan White are both Iowa coaches who love the game and wanted to promote Guild Ball more in our area as well as give a midwest perspective on tactics and teams.
  16. If you like Steamforged news than this is the episode for you. Lance and Dan go over all the latest happenings for an hour. At approximately the 1:10:00 mark they pivot to a Theron discussion where Lance explains why he isn’t a Theron fanboy and Dan regurgitates every bit of Theron tactics he’s consumed from the internet. What are we missing with Theron? http://midwestwargaming.com/podcast/pitch-ep-4/
  17. With SteamCon US coming up a lot of green coaches will be competing for the first time in a large tournament. One aspect where some of my locals are struggling with is developing a 10-man roster. For some, the problem is how to limit their roster to just 10 models whereas for others the difficulty is deciding when to replace one of their favorite six starters with someone who they don't normally bring. JD Haigler wrote up a visual walkthrough of how he decides his 10-man Union roster and this can help people who are new to the game or just looking for ways to improve. http://midwestwargaming.com/concept-behind-guildball-lineup/
  18. I recently believed, like many Butcher coaches in the US, that Shank is hot garbage and Ox is sub-par. Fillet all the way, am I right? I am wrong. Not only is Ox competitive but he's probably more competitive than Fillet and also, if you played with Shank in your lineup more often than you'd probably win more games. http://midwestwargaming.com/ox-shank-competitive-interview-greg-day/
  19. http://midwestwargaming.com/honest-review-honest-land-farmers/ More often than not, reviews tend to be just useless praise by consumers who are drinking the cool-aid. And while JD Haigler does enjoy a drink or two from the Guild Ball cool-aid cup, he is sober enough to call it like he sees it and has written up a review that is honesty at its finest.
  20. In Episode 3 Lance & Dan bring on a guest, Mike White. They all start with a discussion on the news from Steamforged, their holiday themed undead farmers, Octoberfest esters and pumpkin obulus. Lance updates everyone on the Union in Chains event and Dan then talks about the inclusion of Guild Ball at the ATC. The rest of the episode is Mike and Lance discussing Esters and Dan being tipsy. The Pitch is a podcast focused on discussing Steamforged’s sport-themed-wargame, Guild Ball. Lance Becker and Dan White are both Iowa coaches who love the game and wanted to promote Guild Ball more in our area as well as give a midwest perspective on tactics and teams. http://museonminis.com/the-pitch-ep-3/
  21. In Episode 2 Lance & Dan provide an update on Steamforged’s Union in Chains global event and let you know which guilds are currently winning and throw our two cents on the new models. After news they proceed to do a battle report from a recent Des Moines tournament, Lance played his Blacksmiths and Dan brought Morticians for the first time. Lastly, Lance and Dan combine all of their combined intelligence to figure out Scalpel. The Pitch is a podcast focused on discussing Steamforged’s sport-themed-wargame, Guild Ball. Lance Becker and Dan White are both Iowa coaches who love the game and wanted to promote Guild Ball more in our area as well as give a midwest perspective on tactics and teams. http://museonminis.com/the-pitch-ep-2/
  22. The Pitch is a new podcast straight out of the Midwest. Lance Becker and Dan White are both Iowa coaches who love the game and wanted to promote Guild Ball more in Iowa area as well as give another perspective on tactics and teams. In Episode 1 Lance & Dan recap the latest news from Steamforged, Union in Chains, as well as talk about new players to the Blacksmith's Guild, Alloy and Hearth. At the 32:00 mark Dan & Lance do a battle report from their recent tournament in Minneapolis. http://museonminis.com/the-pitch-ep-1/

    Esters is Besters

The internet is wrong. Esters is an excellent captain and in this article DoubleCheeze will explain why he thinks she's two scoops of great. http://midwestwargaming.com/esters-is-besters/
  24. Hey all, first video battle report and it was a doozy of a game. Definitely stay tuned until the end for a fun ending. Esters Scum Mash Pint Pot Vet Spigot Friday VS Fillet Princess Vet Oxe Vet Brisket Boiler Meathook
  25. The new book is out and with it came only a few surprises at this point. The Farmers, and the new Union pair. For the most part, the other releases have been out, and tested, and opinions are already out there. I’m a long ways from being qualified to tell you how good they are, and aren’t. I can give you some impressions if you haven’t seen them, but consider this more of a news outlet than the actual no-kidding way to play the game...http://midwestwargaming.com/guildball-season-3s-new-guys/ -Authored by JDHaigler
