  2. 2nd Attempt to post this...... Retford War-gaming Club Retford saw Edward vs Danny in box office spectacular. A brutal game of intense football folks... The rival Fillet's butchers ready for the kill vs Midas with his showboating team of Alchemists. The game began with Both teams edged out for total war on the pitch. The butchers decided to kick leaving Midas smiling! Compound would hold the fort, whilst the rest of the team mixed up a deadly treat. Midas got his opportunity whilst Vet Kat wailed on a defenceless butcher surrounded by Crucible and Harry. He scored and the dread set in for Fillet as the team were engulfed with snared! Midas Kneeslided and was quick to get a who r ya? and soon a belly full of Knives! With a second Goal, Midas saw the score 10 vs 8 it was close but they had this. Kat had taken punishment and so had Harry, the dream was there but something stirred on the pitch. The ball was loose Midas saw the opportunity to get that last goal but Crucible fell in a cloud of scarlet Meathook had saved her team!! Midas took a knee as he looked longingly at naja....is this how it ends! With no chance of the retaining the ball....the Alchemists rushed to gang up on Ox....but little did they know he'd been up for the fight all game! With Compound, Harry, Crucible, and Naja poised the game looked over, but a lash of pure furry saw Ox survive! Fillet used every last bit of influence... grabbed the ball and like a stream of blood firing down the pitch! Fillet could barely see for the blood weeping from all sides and laughed tis just a scratch and followed up with a wink at compound as he turned to face... his horrible mistake.... kicking hard and straight the game was over.. 12-10 to butchers. Harry looked in dismay... he knew if he could he'd see this grudge settled and come back harder then ever a hero ....dusting off his hat neh a veteran Alchemist!
  3. My opponent was in the middle of painting butchers, and might be part of the reason he lost 12-8
  4. Pin Vice and Smoke went head to head in London town's Dark Sphere in a bid to claim early Harry bragging rights. Harry the alchemist supported by Smoke, Calculus, Flask, Vitriol and Vet Kat survived the slings and arrows of my opponent Jay & Harry the engineer's fantastically frightening engineer shenanigans. The teams spent couple of turns of trading goals (Vitriol & Colossus respectively) and bashing each other the head with various AOEs before Vet Kat got very, very angry with Ratchet blasting earth all around him and proceeded to Witness Me him on consecutive turns to leave the alchemists 12-4 winners. Harry the Alchemist played a key role in set-up by goading Hoist in a most ungentlemanly manner ensuring he forgot all about trying to help save Ratchet. Great game, and a fab opponent. Sorry I've only got 1 pic but you can see the AOEs were in full effect. Jay may have more. We then played a second goal frenzy game without Harry but Ballista stepping up for the engineers and Okat and Mercury coming out to play for me. Despite spending most of the game standing very still in a minefield the much maligned striker Vitriol managed to score 2 goals including the winner. It ended 12-8 to the alchemists but could easily have swung the other way. Alchemist highlight was nearly killing the famously tough cookie that is hoist and Ballista not enjoying charging a def stanced & braced for impact Vitriol. Despite Ballista and Salvo sending down Agincourt levels of arrows the alchemists managed to limp (with arrows to the knee) over the finish line.

  7. So I was reading the new trait list thread and found that crazy can only be used on a models activation. But since I've played this game last November no one from my group has called me on "cheating". Though when I'm counter attacking Harry becomes the active model for the counter attack but it's still not his activation. In the steps for the attack sequence 2.1 it says you generate the dice pool. Is this where crazy would activate if I chose? So can you go crazy on a counter attack or have I been doing it wrong this entire time?

  13. If you go down to the seedy underbelly today, you’re in for a big surprise… Union Players, we know you’re still digesting the lovely Blackheart shaped treat we gave you yesterday, but we have another treat for you today! Today's post will take a look at the Season 3 transformation of none other than Harry the Hat, and then we'll take a closer look at what really happened to the Selective Trait. We there’s been a lot of speculation since we showed you Minx's card, so it's time to introduce the new Guild Reference Cards! Harry’s had a lot of changes going into Season 3, so bear with us while we talk through them all. First off, he’s an absolute beast now. Look at him. He’s one of our coolest models, but his rules didn’t QUITE live up to how awesome his model is. Well no more! Look at him. Look at that Playbook, it’s a thing of righteous beauty. In combination with his new 2” melee range, he can now really Push enemy models around and knock them down, and generate momentum for doing so! He can even stick damage on the enemy once they’re knocked down and he can start hitting that momentous 2 DMG and double Push on the fourth column. You’ll notice that, in addition to being drastically improved, it’s also been shortened, in accordance with our general look at models with longer Playbooks. He has also gained an additional point of INF, taking him to [2/4], meaning he gets to contribute to the game more, even when he himself can’t get to swinging his wrench in melee or set the enemy on fire. Speaking of, eagle eyed readers will already know this from Stoker, but Molotov is now an ongoing-effect AOE, making it easier to spread fire across the Pitch. Burn, baby burn! The back of his card has seen fewer changes than the front, Rising Anger and Crazy are still there, but we wanted to represent his extremely cunning hat a little better. Previously, having to spend [1] MP to gain a small TAC buff for friendly models near to Harry was good, but situational. A small aura, coupled with the fact that he had to trigger it, meant it just wasn’t as cool or as useful as it could have been. In addition, when we were looking at Union options going into Season 3, we knew they skewed quite heavily towards damage over actually playing the beautiful game. While that’s not a problem, we definitely knew we wanted to improve the Union’s footballing capability. As you saw with Blackheart yesterday (and if you didn’t, you should!) pushing more options for Union Players outside of the classic ‘smash face’ plan was a big goal for us going into Season 3. Harry’s new Inspiring Hat is a perfect example of this, passively allowing other friendly models within the aura to make cheaper Teamwork actions. This lets the Union generate momentum from successful Passes, bank that momentum, AND use Teamwork actions to move all over the Pitch, making them both more mobile and more momentum efficient. Now obviously, this only works when models are within a small area close to Harry, AND he himself can’t make cheaper actions, so careful positioning will be required to get the most out of this ability. Of course, it’s not just the Union that can make use of Harry, the Alchemists, Brewers, Butchers, and Engineers can too… And there’s still no Selective trait on his card. So how, we hear you cry, eyes raised to the heavens, do we know which Guilds can use which Union models? Well, I’ll tell you for how: These Guild Reference Cards are a new addition for Season 3, and currently they list, very simply, what models will work for each Guild. The seed (ha!) of these cards was planted when we started designing the Farmers. As many of you will have seen from Tater’s rules, the harvest-marker mechanic isn’t something we could put on an individual model’s card, it needed to be a Guild wide special rule. As a result, we decided the Farmers Starter Set would come with a reference card with the rules for harvest-markers on it. This means that, just like every other rule in Guild Ball barring the Core Rules, you can have the card sitting next to the table, and refer to it mid game. Moving forward, we realised that as future Union models, and Guilds are released, we would need to be constantly reprinting and errata’ing cards to fix the Selective rule. Which seems like, frankly, both a lot of work of us, AND a bit of a pain for you guys to keep track of. So we combined the two ideas into these Guild Reference Cards. These cards will come in the brand new Season 3 card packs, one for each Guild (except the Union, obv!), and each will list which Union models will play for that Guild this season. This provides a handy one stop reference, removing the need to constantly go back and check each individual Union model card to check if they’ll play for your Guild, now you just need to check a single card. These cards will also cover, like with the Farmer’s, any Guild specific rules going forward, which provides ease of reference and time saving for you guys! The cards will also, of course, like all Guild Ball rules, be freely available online with each Guild’s card download. Let us know what you think of Harry, and the Guild Reference cards on our social media, or, of course, right here! TheLieutenant will be floating around the comments to answer any questions you may have for the next hour or so. ‘til next time, may your coffers be full, and your machinations many and varied! Happy Unioning!

    Harry the Hat Season 3

I think we can all agree that Harry is currently the worst model in the game. However, with some of the Season 3 changes already being released is anyone thinking that he will be a viable option in an Alchemist line up? Key points I'm going off here is the adjustment to Crazy on Cossett. Shortening up the playbook is HUGE for this models. In addition to this a lot of the old 1/4 influence models have been getting a bump to 2/4 (Meathook and Stoker.) Last, if they keep Molotov on Harry we can only assume it will be like Stoker's and provide potentially 4 fire AOEs…goodbye Mercury. IF and I do mean IF this happens would you consider running him? If so how would you play him. Obviously I think with the AOE game he would fit better in a Smoke lineup but who else comes in? I would think Smoke, Flask, VKat but not sure on the other two. Would you go striker/striker Vitriol and Mist or work the Poison game with Calculus or Hemlocke? Or does Harry still suck even with the changes?
  15. Picked up the Union starter for Blackheart and Gutter, but I already had Decimate. Anybody interested? Unassembled and unpainted. I'm willing to do a straight swap for Harry the Hat (preferably unassembled). Otherwise, we can make some sort of deal over PayPal. I'm also interested in finding a KS Midas, but no one seems willing to get rid of theirs . Let me know if you are!
