  1. Here is the start of my brewers team ...
  2. I'm a slow painter. I don't have the time I would like to have for painting and playing. But I enjoy it very much, when I finished a miniature and much more, when it get some table time. Two or three month ago I started with Guildball and choosed the Spooks. It was the first time, that I had the chance to choose a faction freely, because I was the first in my gaming club collecting Guild Ball. When we start a new game, we normally try to choose different factions and not to double some on the start. But I never was the first, when starting a new system - but for this time! After some rounds with the models of the starterbox, I bought the rest of three team members to fill the ranks to a full team. In the meantime I began painting Obulus, but stuck with the feather coat. So I took a reacreation of him and started with my new Ghast, one of my favorit of the Morticians. After a game I played yesterday, I finished him today. But because I didn't know if I do myself a Guild Ball gaming table or buying a gamemat, I don't finished the base and doesn't used dull coat spray on him. But I hope you still like him:

    Just some quick thoughts (inspired by a similar post on the Butchers' board): 1) This isn't a foregone conclusion this time. We're not playing the Masons this year. We're playing everybody. That means we can't count on getting out to an early lead and then coasting like last year. We need all hands on deck (or at taps, as it were) to get games in early AND often. 2) Reporting games is priority #1. While a lot of us are on "Team Amber," maybe you aren't. That's OK. We can shift our pick by shifting our reporting later in the process if we need to. The important thing is to get games in. WHO we're backing is far less important than number of games reported- it won't matter which player you're pulling for if we don't get an early pick, so get games reported. 3) Don't get lazy/discouraged. We're Brewers, through and through. Season Four drops halfway through this league, and we don't know whether it will be great to us or horrible. I prefer to hope for great but plan for horrible, so in that regard... at the end of the day, it doesn't matter! We're going to be playing this guild over the long haul; the most disappointing thing in the world would be for us to lose this contest b/c SFG changes the guild in S4 in ways we don't like and we sulk about it. If it's that bad, they'll fix it in an errata six months from now, but the player we get or get stuck with is going to be with us for the life of the team. No matter what happens mid-October, we need to keep playing games. Plus, if you hate the changes, the only way to prove they need to be undone is to get a bunch of data playing games with them, anyway (and you gotta play a bunch even if you think they're bad in order to confirm that you're right, anyhow). So no matter what, whether you love the S4 Brewers or hate them, remember that an individual edition (and errata) is temporary, but a model added to your Guild is forever and should be prioritized as such! 4) We don't owe anyone anything. The Butchers won last year because they convinced a lot of other Guilds to help them. That's all well and good, but let's not leave anything to chance this time. We have a dog in this fight, all the way to the end, and we can each only play but so many games. Let's make them count for what we need them to count for- ourselves. 5) We know who we are- we're the guild that brought Decimate home, that kept slugging away even at the bottom tier throughout Season Three, and that keeps growing in numbers no matter how bad things might get because we're just that cool. Let's remember that, get out there, and win this thing! (Or at least get second pick after the Butchers...) #saveamber #bringamberhome

    So I came up with this crazy idea of giving Friday bag of quaffers, tooled up, and a couple crowd outs so she can hit four damage with two dirty knives. She would need at least two crowd outs to have a chance. Anyone have any thoughts?
  6. I recently played a game against farmers and I was wondering about the mechanics of reanimate. If pony pot smashes face and reduces jack straw to zero. Does the bleed apply before or after reanimate prox.

    Midas vs brewers

    Hey there I've got a battle against a brewer player tonight, that the last time I took smoke against and I was nearly ready to rip my hair out, from the amount of conditions removal that occurred. So what do I take in a all alchemist team using midas instead?

Trying to get myself back into GuildBall, I’ve been refreshing by watching game reports/videos on YouTube and noticed a couple of things: - There aren’t many Brewers games on there compared to many other guilds. - The Brewers lose almost all the games shown. So I have to ask: - Are Brewers a bottom tier team? - Can they be played and expect to win? - Which Guilds are our best match ups? It seems just about every other team has longer threat ranges for both attacks and goals. Our lack of dodges reduces janky manoeuvres for reaching goal threats. We are out manoeuvred by all the faster teams, many also have ‘where’d they go’, ‘acrobatic’ etc to escape our grasp. Small 4” aura abilities that rely on our team being close, yet making goal threats against us easier. Heavy reliance on Heroic abilities when we are low on Influence and often Momentum. Only generating momentum in melee. Have the Brewers been left behind (being one of the original few)?

    Stave X Windle

    It started as a joke of me threatening the mighty Moose Jaw meta with Stave/Windle slash fic. And then I remembered I'm friends with an Illustrator. Spigot and Friday ain't the only players with secret liaisons, eh? An old hand and a young buck. When their eyes met from across the pitch, it was like an Exploding Barrel in their hearts. Would their desires stay unresolved, or would they Stop Slacking and take a huge risk together? Stave X Windle.
  11. Returning to GB after about a year away (only had a couple games then) after not really playing since s1 with Brewers (basic team plus Stoker). Even back in s1 I only played maybe 8 games, so I was never an accomplished player, but my team is fully painted and I loved the system. Recently bought back in with Falconers (pre order), some terrain and a pitch on the way. Hoping to not get blown away with 12-0 and 12-2 results vs a local meta full of tourney types. Any tips? Anyone in the Nottingham UK area that isn’t already a tournament goer? Dont get me wrong, I know it’s good to learn from someone better than u and that means losing a fair few games, but it’s harder to draw learning points while getting annihilated.

    How to deal with brewers

    Hello! I haven't found any post errata topics about dealing with brewers. In my 2+ years of Guild Ball somehow I never played against brewers, but now that vet. Decimate is coming, they got more popular amongst our players (ok, my new brewer team is on it's way aswell, they seem like a fun bunch ). My question would be, what lineup can we bring against brewers that can do anything decent on the pitch. When I played against Esters, she and Stoker were really useful against the usual condition game (and they have Lucky, but that might be an overkill against conditions). Mash can keep the ball really well with 3/2 and unopredictable against Smoke and Mist. oKat kets shut down hard with 2"melee and KDs, since you have to remove conditions and move into melee, vKat hates tough hide. Tapper and the 2" beaters can beat up Midas real bad. It seems like Brewers have the perfect counter for everything. As I see, Smoke could be good against Tapper and Midas maybe against Esters, but it's kind of a coin toss which matchup will happen. So it would be great to hear about viable tactics against Brewers, since it actually looks like one of the harder matchups at the moment.

    Captains and Matchups

    I've been playing my Brewers again a LOT lately, and I've started doing the "tourney ten" draft before pretty much every game I play to get accustomed to it. I'm interested to pool the collective brain-thoughts: what matchups do you play which captain into? Are there any matchups you think we automatically go one way or the other? Which Guilds/Captains do Tapper and Esters each hate to see on the other side of the table? I'll certainly sound off my own thoughts down the discussion, but as I'm trying to gather others' opinions, I want to leave the beginning wide open so people are talking about what you all think, rather than reacting to what they feel about what I think... =)

    Estus match-ups

    Hi guys, hoping for a little Estus advice. What match ups do you like her into? I'm finding in most games I end up thinking Tapper would have been the better choice. I like Estus into alchemists for the condition removal and to play them at their own game a little but other than that I struggle to place her. I expected to like her vs farmers and masons but in recent games I really struggled to get anything good out of her past turn 1 denial with fire blasts. I often get some good work out of her but I just feel my boii tapper is the heart of the brewers team and makes the team play the way they should. Any help/advice would be appreciated

    Advices to an event

    Dear fellow guild members! In my local meta there will be a one day event on next saturday. There will be upper and lower side, and i'm in the lower. The other players will bring alchemists, brewers, blacksmiths and union. My questions are the following. 1. Against these guilds, wich captain would be the better choice? I think the gamers would bring these captains: Union: Rage Brewers: Tapper Blacksmith: Ferrite or Burnace Alchemist: I think it will be Smoke. 2. What tactics I choose in these games? 3. What squaddies will be the core of my team each games? I know, this is so theoretical, but I would really appreciate any advice, ideas or help

  20. Finally got my Mystery Box and I'm not into all of this chibi stuff that seems to be going around. Quite frankly I would like to get rid of this stuff in case it's contagious. Chibi cards for Brewer's (Esters and Quaff) and Hunter's (Theron and Fahad) also got the Ballista and Mainspring chibi pin. On a side note, I also now have an extra set of S3 Plot Cards and Big League. PM me if you are interested in any of it, located in the United States, Arizona.

    At SteamCon US there was an awesome cosplayer who captured the image of Esters.   23. We had a tournament in Virginia this weekend, and I went out for my first Guild Ball competition! In point of fact, it was supposed to be the Kick About Cup for the end of our KA league, but only three of the KA guys showed up, so we got "grandfathered" into the big tourney. Suddenly, I was playing on a clock for the first time and playing against seasoned veterans...yikes! Fortunately, everybody was really nice, classy, and fun- I had a great time. I played Brewers through both the KA league and the tourney, but I'm throwing my support behind the Fishermen for UiC. This is the last of my four games at the event. So then! ROUND FOUR: Fishermen (Shark, Tentacles, Angel, Greyscales, Hag, Siren) My Lineup: Tapper, Scum, Hooper, Friday, Spigot, and Stave This one went really, really quick. Remember how I'm learning how amazing Shark and Greyscales are at scoring goals? Even more amazing than I thought, as it turns out! I also badly misplayed Stave in this one. I got a chance to blast Hag forward to what I hoped would be her doom, and so I pushed Stave up to get the barrel blast off, which worked, but then he was exposed and both Shark and Siren were able to farm momentum and dodges off him at will for the rest of the game. Shark literally crossed the entire board on his first activation to retrieve the ball and score a goal. The ball was kicked back out, and next turn, Shark was back at it again. To make matters worse, Hag got away on account of the team needing to pull back defensively (which they really had to do because Shark had caught almost my whole team with his legendary play). It made little difference; Shark was able to get the ball back and score again. This time, I kicked the ball as far away from anybody as I could and did what damage I was able in the scrum (such as it was). Greyscales was able to cover most of the distance to the ball while the rest of his team farmed a bunch of momentum (off Stave, naturally) for the purposes of winning initiative for the next turn, and on the first activation of turn three, the old seadog grabbed the ball, went in on Tapper to generate some momentum, "Where'd They Go?"-ed into tap in range, and bonus timed it to end the game 12-0. Mistakes were made. Lots of them- I should have hung Stave back to play demolitions goalie like I did against the Masons, and I definitely should have painted Mash before the tourney to have him in the lineup if needed- but still, I learned a lot, had a great time playing some great people, and got four matches posted up here to support my Fish! Now all I ask is that Veteran Gutter have Gut & String if we win her, so I can use these tokens I have left over from old Shark...!

ROUND THREE: Masons (Hammer, Marbles, Brick, Tower, Mallet, Lucky) My Lineup: Tapper, Scum, Hooper, Friday, Spigot, Stave This one went well for the boys and girl in Tartans. As it turns out, a Topped Out, Sic 'Em-ed kitty in Tapper's Commanding Aura can do a bit of damage. A scrum developed pretty early on in this one, with Hooper kicking off and the rest of the squad hurrying up the field. I'd played against Masons a few times, but never against Hammer. I was soon to be impressed by his playbook! The man of the match in this one, though, had to be Stave. Though you wouldn't think I was capable of it based on what happened in Round Four, I played him very cleverly in this match, sticking him back behind the gang and normally giving him three influence (which is a lot, but I was basically using Old Jakes with Tapper every turn to help compensate). He then just lumbered around throwing barrels to knock people down or around. Twice, the Masons found their ball carrier blasted away from the goal and the ball suddenly loose. An even bigger problem was that they often found their players unable to support each other or knocked down to be easy pickings for the rest of my team (when Stave wasn't tossing barrels, he was belly-bumping people onto their butts with that momentous KD on one). By separating the Masons, using Friday and Scum's comparatively long jogs to get in the way of others or stop counter charges (something they can both do just fine even without influence), and focusing down one target at a time, I managed to take out Brick, then Hammer, then Tower and Marbles in rapid succession. Tapper did finally get taken out, but I was able to bring him back in on the edge, ready to rush up and jump on Lucky, who was serving as the Masons' ball carrier. He even managed to gain control of it, rather than just beating Lucky up. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that at the start of next turn, both Hammer and Tower would be returning to the pitch, and would be in position to threaten Tapper easily. They got the ball, shoved him away, and sent Hammer sprinting down the sidelines after passing the ball to Tower. Remember how I said I did pretty well with Stave in this game? Probably my best moment of the whole tourney was Stave thumping over to blast Hammer off the pitch and into the crowd with a barrel immediately after the Masons' leader had put a beat down on tapper. Meanwhile, Friday retrieved the ball, and darted away to tap-in range. It was a chip shot, and she didn't miss. 13 (12) - 2, Brewers! Another victory struck for our allies, the Fish!

ROUND TWO: Butchers (Fillet, Princess, Boiler, Meathook, Brisket, Boar) My Lineup: Tapper, Scum, Hooper, Friday, Spigot, and Pintpot. GOLLY I wish I'd used Stave in there! This one was a bloodbath (aided in part by the prize of a Limited Edition Rage model for whomever got the fastest mascot takeout in this round). Since I was just here to have fun, anyway, I decided to hang winning the game and just go for that dog. In goes the squad- Sic 'Em, Knockdown, Commanding Aura, the works. By early in turn two, Princess was toast. (Scum goes after Princess) So I won the Limited Rage (yay!), but this proved to be pretty costly. I did a good job of managing Boiler, Boar, and Meathook- ok, I managed Boar and Boiler pretty well; Meathook I mostly left to her own devices and got lucky that she proved more set-up girl than actual threat, though she did do a pretty solid amount of damage. The one I did NOT manage well was Fillet. She basically got to roam around the table murdering people at her leisure- having played against only Ox on the Butchers' side in the past, I misunderstood that Fillet doesn't need to be near/supported by the rest of the squad to do huge damage, and doesn't do much for them in return, so I ignored her at my great peril if she wasn't close to the main action, and she surgically dismembered my team's stragglers and outliers. I did some good things, too- both Spigot and Friday each scored a goal, and this came after they combined forces to take out Brisket. I got my second goal and second takeout before Fillet could get her sixth, actually- but one of my takeouts was Princess, so I ended up losing 11-12. Still...Limited Rage. Totally worth it. =) (Spigot scores for the first time since I've played Brewers) (Friday scores as well. This evened my lifetime "Goals Scored by Humans" to "Goals Scored by Cats" ratio!) My opponent was a great guy and we had a blast in this round. Totally awesome. Totally worth it. Also worth one more game for the Fish for UiC! =)
