  1. Obulus casts Puppet Master against Esters and hits. Gluttonous Mass triggers. What exactly does it mean for the Attack or Character Play to be ignored? Puppet Master forces the target model to make a Job, Pass or Attack. So Gluttonous Mass ignores that effect. But what about the Influence gain? Puppet Master grants Obulus 1 Influence. Does Gluttonous Mass mean all effects of the Attack are ignored or only the effects affecting the target model? In other words, does Gluttonous Mass simply mean that it's treated as if the Attack never occurred or is it more subtle?
  2. First written in progress pic for my new Morticians team. Trying to keep the palette limited and muted, blacks, greys, white, blue as accent colour for flesh and tans and gold to mirror the artwork.
  3. I’m attending the World Record Sell Out Vengeance! Tournament in May. My first team is Masons and of my 11/12 games I have just one 1 (very flukey) win. I genuinely doubt I’ll have much fun playing them at this event, and my frustrations will be obvious to my opponent and this may impact their enjoyment so, should I just go all in with a new team? I got the Morticians over Christmas/New Year, and I just think I’ll have much more fun with these guys (Obs, Dirge, Cosset, Graves, Ghast and Bonesaw). I also got Brick and Chisel so I have a new Masons line up to play with but, well, I go in to a game with them and just feel like I’m going to lose. I don’t really ‘GET’ them, but I look at the Morts cards and can see some fun stuff I’d really like to try. Please share any thoughts or experiences!
  4. Hey guys, new to the game. Just assembled my Butcher guild and now I am ready to play my first ever game of guild ball :). Currently I own the following models: Ox, Princess, Boiler, Shank, Gutter, Averisse&Greede and Tenderiser. I will be playing vs my friend next week who has Morticians. As I am reading the blogs I realized that the Morticians are tricky to play against. What are the general tactics I should use and what models are good against them? Grateful for any advice I get.     Hello all! You may know me over from the Minions forums on the Privateer Website! I've been a long time minions player for warmachine and recently picked up Malifaux and Krosmaster. I didn't like the game from what I heard online, but it warmed up to me! Now I own every playable Morticians model and have been enjoying making people had their plans go wrong! Spooks for Life! Spooks for death! We let the butchers do their job because dead people keep us in a job! Hope everyone is enjoying the game and we all have good chats on here!

  7. Hey All, Decided I would create a consolidated thread of all my teams. I'm from Seattle so my paint schemes are inspired a lot from the Seahawks/Sounders. Lots of Blue and Neonish Green. The bonus of doing this is that a lot of my union will also look like they belong when joining any of my teams. My pan is to eventually collect all the teams (My Wife has claimed Brewers). I have started to use my teams to teach alot of my friends and coworkers. So far it has been a lot of fun painting =) Would love advice or tips on how to improve and spice up my future teams. Thanks We got a game! Mason's I find that sometimes painting models will make me fall in love with them. I like Brick. Chisel is hands down my favorite. Morticians My favorite team to play right now. Big fan of even the "misfit" members of their team. Obulus is amazing on the pitch but I think I might revisit this model as I'm not happy with the end result. Silence became one of my favorite models through painting the spooky guy Oh Dirge the Seahawk Ghast had a lot of influence in getting me to play Morticians Beautiful and Deadly! How can you go......oh yea shes crazy....#worth I love the Mortician Big Guys I have a confession...I love Graves Wasn't sure about a striker on a giant base but man is he fun! Union The Team with Goals i'm working on in the background I love Veteran Rage Black Like my Heart Coin hoarding treasure as always! Gutter and gut her I've been liking Decimate mroe and more after painting her. Going to be honest not a big fan of Mist. With my style he comes off way too messy. Need to probably take another run at him in the future as I evolve as a painter. Fangtooth is a fun model and great to paint!

    Good Evening! im just looking for some inspiration on what to start running as my Morticians roster, and why I would as in bs what teams? I now have every available model to The Morticians currently and they are all painted up. ive been running, Obulus, Dirge, Silence, Cosset Ghast and Mist. but have, Graves, Casket, Bonesaw, Rage, Fangtooth, Minx and Avarisse and greed. Cheers.
  9. First 2 are done for now. They need a lot more TLC compared to other mini's. Need to find me some black/grey grass. Also i might redo the handle of the blade.

    Hi all, I've recently won (as a wooden spoon) a Minx model and was wondering how she'd fit in my Morticians. shes like the love-child of Cosset and Graves, pretty fast, OK TAC/KICK, and a low tackle with some momentus damage. im looking at putting her in my main line up of: Obulus, Dirge, Silence, Graves, Cosset, Ghast, Mist, Minx (Tournament 8)

    Greetings, all - just finished my Morticians and had a couple of games with them - thought I'd share and see what you fine folks thought. My Obulus didn't arrive with a chest piece, so I had to fabricate one with green stuff and watercolor paper. The goals I made from elements of GW terrain, with a Guild symbol on each made from green stuff. Hope you enjoy!

    I have posted these before, but I think they got lost after that massive spam clear out a few months ago?! Masons: Fishermen: Coming soon - Brick and Chisel for the Mason's and my Spooks I may revisit the Fishermen and finish of their roster at a later date, too.
  17. So I'm interested on what you guys think of the last 2 spaces open for the Spooks season 2 line-up. We've seen Captain Scalpel (who looks beautiful) and have our striker in Bonesaw. That leaves us with a space for the new mascot and our veteran player. Mascot: I've seen many a rumour going around about the mascot being a swarm of rats and I really like the idea. Either that or a giant bat. Fits in well with the Spooks but what about abilities? Currently ol Dirge comes with "singled out" and the best mascot MOV in the game. Throw in Dark Doubts and Recreation (Silence), it makes him very interesting part of our game and a lovely pest when brought back onto the field. So what do we need from the new mascot? Keeping with the idea of Morts messing with their opponents game, maybe there could be something that alters INF allocation/use along the lines of Fear and Concussion and as rats they could "Swarm" lowering the DEF of a character about to be pounded on. I would think that the speed will drop but maybe bumped with a WTG? Also, is the mascot going to have interaction with any other player? If it's rats, they must have a Pied Piper ability chucked in or I'll be disappointed. Veteran player: This is a harder one. In my eyes it's a toss up between two characters - Graves and Silence. Silence gets in mainly because of the fluff about his aspirations of being the captain and I just love the idea of him having a tantrum like a little kid for not getting the mantle. That said, he's pretty good as he is, but with a new mascot, some of what he has goes down the poop chute with recreation and kick support. This makes it plausible that he might come back as the veteran with buffs playing towards the new mascot. Or the Mascot buffs the captain and Silence becomes a loner because he was passed over for the captain position, gains something like "Fangtooth Unleased" where by he gets personal buffs at the detriment of the squad. Then there's Graves... I truly hope it's him as he is a prime candidate in my opinion. He's struggled to find a place in most teams judging by the posts on this forum (including my own team) but there is so much potential in him. He might get more field time and stay as is if we get someone with Coin's "Bag of Coffers" ability to feed his INF hunger, but I don't see that happening. The rest of the team seems to be pretty balanced and with Capt. Scalpel looking "slice 'n dice", he fits really well and there could be a really good synergy there. Let's hear what you guys think?
  18. I'm a slow painter. I don't have the time I would like to have for painting and playing. But I enjoy it very much, when I finished a miniature and much more, when it get some table time. Two or three month ago I started with Guildball and choosed the Spooks. It was the first time, that I had the chance to choose a faction freely, because I was the first in my gaming club collecting Guild Ball. When we start a new game, we normally try to choose different factions and not to double some on the start. But I never was the first, when starting a new system - but for this time! After some rounds with the models of the starterbox, I bought the rest of three team members to fill the ranks to a full team. In the meantime I began painting Obulus, but stuck with the feather coat. So I took a reacreation of him and started with my new Ghast, one of my favorit of the Morticians. After a game I played yesterday, I finished him today. But because I didn't know if I do myself a Guild Ball gaming table or buying a gamemat, I don't finished the base and doesn't used dull coat spray on him. But I hope you still like him:
  19. I made this video to show some people at my flgs how I paint tartan - I thought it might be of use to the wider community, so here it is for everyone to see. I've never made a painting video before so it's not amazing, constructive criticism on the video is very welcome. For example; how do I get youtube to not make it so blurry? It's less blurry in the file on my computer. I plan to do a couple more to show how to paint different kinds of tartan. If people want other painting videos I can do more, but I think the most useful things I have to offer are things like my weird brush/model holding pose to stop my hands shaking.

Hi guys, wondering if you could clarify for me/ Unpredictable movement states that once per turn, this model may make a 2" dodge when a models enters its Melee zone. ive seen it played 2 ways: once per model activation, so Obulus is charged by model A, dodges out. obulus activates. obulus is charged by model b, dodges out. and so on. OR- the time he dodges, that's the last time until we go to maintenance phase. which is right?
  22. So on Saturday I took part in Festive Balls. The first ever 32 player event :-) Despite having a number of teams I elected to take my true love that is the filth of Morticians. The Lineup: So despite having a full roster of 8, I elected to play all 5 games with the Same roster: ObulusDirgeSilenceGhastFangtoothMistGame 1 v Jim Tew (Brewers) So game 1 and I am up against Jim and his gorgeous looking Brewers. These are so gorgeous that they won best painted! I've not been able to play against brewers casually as nobody I know locally actually plays them, however I knew going into this that Stave could cause me some serious issues,. However when the 6 were revealed he was still on the sidelines. Excellent. Jim won the roll and received, after a cagey start and Jim throwing the ball around I kept obulus back until the final activation so that I could clear out the ball. With a puppet master used on the cat to throw the ball back into the middle. I managed to win initiative and get the ball out to Mist on the side next to some fast ground. Jim tried to meet me in the middle in a fist fight but with Obulus, ghast and fangtooth in the mix he wasn't able to get anything meaningful through. Tapper got isolated and was left bloody. Jim managed to take out dirge for an early 2-0 lead and I finished the turn by dodging / sprinting up the wing and scoring to make it 4-2. With enough momentum to auto win the next turn I dodged mist in front of goal. The kickoff went out to the same wing where Friday was able to take possession with a perfectly placed kick. It then became the Obulus show. 8 inf got stacked on him with only thought on my mind. 6 MP 1st activation. So Obulus activates first, hits tapper enough times to take him out and generate momentum. I walk him around into position, puppet master Friday to kick the ball, received, dodge through melee zones to get in position to pass to mist, make it and snap shot for a 10-2 lead. Again the ball goes out to Friday who was able to get a goal before I finish off the game smashing the snot out of Hooper 12-6 WIN Game 2 v Chris Tamplin (Alchemists) I was hoping to avoid Chris until later on in the event as I know how good an alchemist player he is and when I saw the pairing I let let out a rather loud audible f**k Without remembering all of the details on this game it was an incredibly tight affair. A few things stuck out from this game. Unmasking hurts when it is back on you and I forgot how easily Midas can pull it off in comparison to myself. This lead to Ghast and silence being carted off on Turn 2. Late in the game I made a clinical error in measurement and found obulus half an inch out of range to shoot and in frustration ended turn forgetting to pop his legendary which gave Chris enough momentum to do some crucial healing. I managed to score next turn to make it 10-8 however Chris was able to kick it out to hemlocke and score in response to make it 10-12 so despite some stupid school boy mistakes it was a very close affair. 10-12 LOSS Game 3 v Richard Alderson (Masons) Covered by Wynter in this thread http://forums.steamforged.com/index.php?/topic/15253-masons-at-festive-balls/ 12-6 WIN Game 4 v Greg Day (Union) So game 4 was against Greg and his union. Lots of high defense and dodge shenanigans. This game started out with me wanting to get on the score sheet as quickly as possible to put Greg on the back foot. however both Mist and Obulus missed a shot on goal in Turn 1. In total I would miss 5 shots in a game that saw me roll atrociously for the first hour and then have my dice go on fire where fangtooth rolls 5 6's on an attack against snakeskin to take her out! This game was all about fangtooth. Without him I would have lost this game in relatively short order. To finish up the comeback, fangtooth drops his heroic play to charge mist, take him out to then pick up the ball and PASS it, yes PASS to Obulus who then goes on to score a goal to tie it at 10-10. Greg then runs up gutter to try and take out obulus however Ghast was in position to finish things off to win 12-10 12-10 WIN Game 5 v Trev Moffat (Butchers) My Final round opponent was butchers. with the following models (Ox, princess, boiler, brisket, Shank & Gutter) I won the toss and elected to receive. With Mist on the pitch, Trev rightfully aimed the ball as far away as possible from her as possible. However this allowed some early momentum building as instead of holding on I was able to pass it around to get it to mist (silence > Obulus > Mist) Conscious of the damage out put on butchers, I was wary, however gutter managed to draw out silence, With Ox being the ringleader I waited for him to activate by baiting him with an easy 2vp Dirge, before striking using Obulus to puppet master him out of position and smash him in the face with Ghast. All the while, Mist moved into position around the right flank to be in position to pounce on a turn 2 score. I did however fail to win initiative on T2 and the game nearly came undone as Ox laid into my loaded Obulus nearly taking him out but not before taking out silence. Obulus weathered the storm as he so frequently does and dealt out his own level of pain, taking out Ox before healing up. This then freed Mist up to score. A game against butchers is always a cagey affair especially nearly 10 hours into gaming and my back pain was stopping me from thinking, boiler, brisket and shank were carving some holes in me. Fangtooth was slightly out of position, however I managed to get him into the action in time and get off the much needed unmasking to clear out gutter, push brisket into melee with ghast and obulus and take out shank. At this point I've built up 8 VP, however i've taken a load of damage, thankfully spread out but that in itself leaves lots f people vulnerable and is costly MP wise to fix. I misjudged my distances and gutter came close to taking Obulus out. With some crowding out bonuses on my side I was able to survive only to find myself surrounded by Boiler and princess a well timed don't touch the hair meant the old man stayed in the game. The turning point came in the final turn when It would come down to who won initiative. Ox had yet to pop legendary and was due to come out and I had a lot of players near to being taken out. I had a 4MP swing and rolled a 1! Bollocks. Thankfully Trev rolled just as badly and I won initiative. It came down to the old man to pull up his sleeves and go for victory! 8 influence, screw the rest. Shadow like movement put me on the edge of my melee range with princess, 3 attacks to farm momentum allowing me to doge out, puppet master Princess to pass the ball to me move into position pass to mist and snap shot to victory. A victory and 2nd Place was mine finishing behind my Round 2 opponent! The score did not reflect how close that game was. Failure to win that initiative roll and I'd have been wrecked, however miss the goal and I have an uphill battle with hardly any influence on the board to react. 12-4 WIN So overall I finished in 2nd place, ahead of Oli and his Masons by 2VP but still above him and I was only outdone by Chris T who was the only player to go undefeated all day. He only gave up 20 VP all day and 10 of those were from me. So on reflection would I have done anything differently? Aside from in game decision no. I am dead chuffed with 2nd place especially as all the practice games I had in the run up were again my friend as I was helping him get up to speed with the game to play in the event. Stand out MVPs of the team are Fangtooth and Obulus. For fangtooth I always loved him before his buff, but glutenous mass excels him so much it's crazy. Obulus is in a completely different league as well. The things you can do with Obulus on 8 influence are sickening at times and he can be a serious goal scoring machine. Over the course of the day I score 11 goals, of which 6 were scored by Obulus and 5 by Mist
