  1. Organized Play Update

Against Brewers? Kill Spigot twice and score once each with Brisket and Fillet. Against Farmers? Same plan, basically. Try to get as many goals as possible. Don't forget that Fillet is a Striker with a decent kick stat and and perhaps the easiest tackle in the game (and it's even momentous). She can drop Blood Rain Pain Circle, get extra charge distance and/or free playbook dodges, grab the ball, and shoot all with her six INF. If you give her Swift Stance (as you should), you don't really even need to worry about a counterattack from most enemies.
  2. Guild ball era??

Based on technology and social structure, it's an amalgamation of the time periods from the Renaissance through the Victorian period.
  3. New releases in metal?

... They're not going to answer any of that.
  4. PVC Fishers and Butchers

Yeah the plastic teams are far from single-piece casts. I counted well over twenty separate pieces in each of the Blacksmiths boxes, for example.
  5. PVC Fishers and Butchers

Seems to me that it's quite likely this is true. As you and a great many others have commented, there are pretty obvious and easy ways they could have tried harder to make them succeed. I think SFG has given up on the idea of the older guilds ever existing in plastic. See also: the Shattered Loyalties (including a new model for the Farmers) and third Union box that were just announced and will release in metal and the alternate models for minor/major crossover players that are coming in the minor guild release event kits, which are also metal. I think it's a safe assumption that new team box sets will continue to release in plastic, but nothing related to the first nine teams or any additional models for the newer teams. The minor guilds won't even be fully available in plastic, as two of their eight roster choices will only ever be metal models.
  6. New releases in metal?

Those are indeed the major > minor crossover players. For Falconers, they are Egret and Veteran Hearne. SFG have given every indication that they do NOT plan to sell the crossover models on their own. I suspect they will Ben quite rare, unfortunately.
  7. PVC Fishers and Butchers

Not sure, but you commented on some of the points I made, so I'll reply. The major advantage (and one of SFG's stated goals) of the move to pre-assembled plastic minis is that it makes the game easier to start for new players. Someone can walk into a store with any level of miniatures game knowledge (including zero) and walk out with a team ready to play. This is incredibly powerful for attracting new players. By having half the product line (roughly - once all the minor guilds are released, 13/22 guilds will be in plastic, but 11 of those 13 are only six minis each, so it will actually much less than half the total number of models) in pre-assembled plastic and the other half in traditional metal, the game is only half-accessible to new players. Yes, there are "new players" who already are into miniatures, but the majority of those people who might ever be interested in Guild Ball already play it (I don't have hard data on that, but I think it's a reasonable conclusion based on the apparent lack of growth in the game recently). When I talk about "new players" I predominantly mean people who are new to miniatures games in general. Guild Ball is currently only open to those people in two teams, both of which are hard to play and hard to be good at (one of them especially so). Over the next three years, there will be eleven new teams that a new player will be able to use, but they will likely never have access to the first nine guild in the game. Eleven of the thirteen teams they have access to will always be smaller in model count (less options) and will have more team-specific gimmicks (I don't mean that in a bad way) than the original teams. Unless someone wants to dive in and become a hobbyist, they will never be able to play the Butchers or the Fish or the Engineers, etc. The most popular miniatures game in the world (both in terms of active players and in sales) in recent years has completely abandoned the modelling aspect of the hobby - perhaps it's time other miniatures games took the hint? (Yes, I'm aware that X-Wing has a lot of pull due to its IP, but a huge number of the people who play the game because it's Star Wars wouldn't bother if they had to assemble and paint the minis.) Just looking at the world of gaming in general, there are clearly far more people who don't want to do modelling than people that do. The pre-assembled plastic minis are a way to tap into that market, but if only half the game is available to those people, a lot of them won't want to bother.
  8. PVC Fishers and Butchers

It's really too bad things were done this way. All the former board-gamers and impulse-buyers that SFG are trying to attract with pre-assembled plastic minis will now only be able to play two full guilds and the minor guilds (albeit not even the full roster for those) as they are released. As it stands, if you are a person who's not into assembling minis, this game is largely inaccessible for you.
  9. Attracting new players

In your situation, I would recommend you get in touch with the guys in Dubai and see if you could host an event in Abu Dhabi. People are always most interested in a game if they can see other people enjoying it right in front of them. Have the event in a public place (game store, etc.), and some people might stop by just to see what the action is. Then rope them in for a demo game while they're there!
  10. It's mostly the 2" melee and Unpredictable Movement. There's only one other mascot that can interact with Naja - Tentacles, who I think is similarly powerful with 2" melee, Close Control, and one of the best kick stats of any mascot.
  11. Which players are going to the minors

Speculation time: the major > minor crossover pairs will always include One version of a player that has a veteran version. So Katalyst, Spigot, Brisket, Velocity, Siren, Hearne (we know), Harmony, and Graves (we know). Farmers and Smiths can’t do this and I doubt Union will, but I think it’s plausible for the rest.
  12. Which players are going to the minors

Union/Church includes Harry unless we've been misled.
  13. Ratcatchers Guild

They are being sold as 6-player boxes of just the new players. Presumably, they will have a goal, terrain piece, and ball like the other recent 6-player boxes. For the Ratcatchers, at least, they are releasing alternate models of the two old Morticians players that will play with the new team (Veteran Graves & Bonesaw) with the launch party kit. There doesn't appear to be any other plans to make the older models more available for buyers of the minor guilds.
  14. 2 names on Longshanks.

I like this idea in theory. Problem is that it would allow people to shanghai other accounts *very* easily. The process really needs to be controlled in order to work. I'm going to add a feature at some point that will let people request a merger of two specific profiles so that all I need to do is "approve" or "disapprove". The process already isn't difficult (for me), but that should make it easier (for everyone else).
  15. Need Help !!!!!

According to http://steamforged.com/pundits/ there are pundits in the Tampa area, Orlando, Palm Bay, and Ocala (though that list isn't updated frequently and may be out of date). Phil from Guild Ball Tonight is from the Tampa area, I believe, so I imagine there are players there. If those places are too far away, then it may just be up to you to drum up some action
  16. GB resolution for –18?

Get events from East Asia and Africa on the Longshanks (to complete the set of continents). Increase the Longshanks presence of South America, the Middle East, and Oceania. Have a winning record (50% or higher) in tournament games. ... the third goal seems hardest by a significant margin.
  17. Weird Forum error?

FWIW, it's been happening to me for the last several months, not weeks. If anyone wants a fix, install the Chrome extension called "Stylish" and add a custom style for the domain "forums.steamforged.com" with the following contents: .focus-post-bar .cTopic .ipsItemControls { margin-left: 0 !important; padding-left: 0 !important; } That at least makes the bar not hover over the avatar/title section.
  18. Save a swift strike?

Sorry to hijack, but does this mean you could do a regular attack, kill the target, then charge a new target and use both Berserk attacks on the second target?
  19. I've been saying for a while that I think the smartest decision they could make in regards to the plastic re-release would be to simultaneously release the second set of six for each of the Brewers and Masons as the first set. This would open up a huge, easy market of people who have already bought plastics and may want to expand their teams.
  20. Printmakr for Steamcon creations

Having seen a sample of the models that their 3D printer is capable of making ... that doesn't sound like an unreasonable price at all. We're not talking about public access 3D printers or even Shapeways quality - this is something you could use as a master for production molds. Ridiculously high quality for stereolithography.
  21. New PVC Teams

Two minor guilds per year would mean Farmers and Blacksmiths wouldn't get new models (other than potential SteamCon exclusives) until ... 2022? Don't know about you, but having each team only get one new release (and not even one directly for them) over the next 5-6 years seems a bit too slow.
  22. Playing Butchers at LCQ

@Pending Forum Suspension I played against your friend Jeff - we had a fun Fillet mirror match that had some really good back-and-forth. I ended up losing 12-6, but the game felt a lot tighter than that. My experience at the LCQ was ... Farmers. I played into Thresher twice and Grange once. The Thresher games were rough. He feels like a super-Fillet. I got royally 12-0'd in one game and 12-6d in the other. The 12-6 game was winnable, but I made a dumb mistake that resulted in me wasting a Fillet activation and *not* killing Thresher. Game went downhill after that. I managed to 12-0 the Grange team, though. I think we've got a much better shot against his team than Thresher's.
  23. What about a "Creator" sub?

The quote bar is back to being in the middle of each post for me (It's actually appearing immediately after the last line of text in each post, if that helps solve any CSS mysteries.)
  24. What about a "Creator" sub?

It seems to have *fixed* that problem for me. Been doing that for a few weeks now and just stopped today.
