Is it wise to brush on varnish

I finally found some vallejo matte varnish at my hobby store, but i want to know if i can brush it on since i don't own an airbrush. I was using krylon matte finish spray, but due to hurricane season, it has been far to humid to spray.

Yeah, that's not a problem - I did it all the time with vallejo matte varnish before I get my airbrush.

Just don't use a thick coat, you can dilute it a little with water and paint it on nice and thin to take the shine off a gloss underlayer.

I use the exact same varnish. One drop of varnish to one drop of water seems to work well.

I use gloss first and then the matt to bring down the shine as Mako said.

Don't be alarmed if it looks a little cloudy as it's painted on, that clears up as it dries.
