Southern Ontario Open May 5-7, Hamilton Ontario

Hello Coaches and Fans,

You've likely seen by now that we will be hosting a regional qualifier event for the US Nationals at the Southern Ontario Open in Hamilton, Ontario (that's in Canada folks) on the weekend of May 5-7. Details are still being finalized about events (and this post will reflect that, along with tiebreak links for event signup), but you can get your ticket and hotel for the weekend now!

here's an idea of what to expect

  • 2-4 last chance qualifiers for the Sunday finals (depends on store qualifiers that get approved) split across Friday and Saturday
  • Friday night 8 player Draft format tournament!
  • Saturday night Captain my Captain
  • Along with the finals Sunday will also host a Homelands Cup 16 player event!
  • 24 hour gaming!

Details are subject to change as we get more details, but there is plenty of Guild Ball to be had in booming downtown Hamilton.

Hope to see some of you there!

I'm stoked :) It's going to be an awesome weekend with way more guild ball than I'm used to.

Hope to meet lots of new people over a game and maybe a pint!

Further info: it looks like we'all be having some combination of on site qualifiers that qualifies 8 people for the Sunday finals. Details to follow when event registration is open, along with as many side events as we can cram in

Udpate: Looks like Steamforged will be on site running events all three days. Details are forthcoming, but will be posted as soon as they are finalized with the event organizers. It looks like it will be a lot of fun and there will be a lot of gaming to be had, so come out for a fun weekend!

Rough Schedule (based on seating availability, and subject to change):

Friday Qualifier starting at 11am (basically uncapped capacity, so this is the bigger event)

Saturday Qualifier at noon, smaller capacity than Friday

Saturday Evening casual event (probably Oh Captain, my Captain)

Sunday Finals at 10am, with a concurrent event for people that aren't qualified

There's room to maybe have a couple more official events on the schedule, and the space is open 24 hours for open gaming.

Tournament was a lot of fun. Thanks for making sure it both happened and ran smoothly @Frostmane !

It was really neat to get a chance to play against a whole bunch of new people, hope it runs again next year :)

It will run next year, likely with double the space and bigger stakes.
