  2. How to Play: Honour Masons

    So thanks for the great feedback on our last 'How to Play' video. With the responses we have had we're now moving to examine each captain and their common/most used plays. Here's Honour and Tapper from the Kick-Off set, ideal for getting new players up to speed. It's by no means perfect, but let us know your thoughts!

If Silence succesfully casts Shutout on Honour, once she finally activates, can she use Superior Strategy so a friendly model (say Harmony) gets an extra activation, or is this forbidden because Shutout states that "[she] must be the last model the enemy team activates." Shutout | If target enemy model has not activated this turn, it must be the last model the enemy team activates. Superior Strategy | Target friendly Guild model gains an additional activation and is allocated [1] Influence.
  4. Thoughts on Granite

    So I've been playing a bit with Granite lately, and I have to agree with previous posts that she's a hard nut to crack, namely due to her incredibly slow movement. However, I find with the right team build (namely hammer/v.harmony or just honour), you can turn granite into a surprising powerhouse. The following abilities are essential, depending on your team build. My preference is with hammer/v.harmony, but if you want more of a influence-friendly build, use Honour as her quick time will allow you to get those extra inches he desperately needs. When using hammer you have to sacrifice momentum to use Hammer's heroic play, allowing granite to be able to use his Punishing March ability, providing an extra 2". Combine that with V.Harmony's Marked target and granite gains an impressive 4" movement, allowing her to now put on some serious pressure (10" threat). I tend to use this at the right moment rather than all the time and ensure that granite is always centered within the action, so that if necessary I can dig her in more easily. She's absolutely useless against some teams, as she's too easily locked down or easily avoided - namely Fish or Alchemists (their constant burning means Granite basically goes nowhere). However, I quite like using her against brewers or butchers, where her Tar Pit and KD 2 ensures she can get some work done. Final point, I also find Wrecker to be very useful with her as he can zip around pushing players closer to her, without any real fear of being taken out easily (even if he is, it's only 1 VP and by then Granite should have taken out a player on her own, or caused a lot of issues. The main problem I see with Granite is she really needs a lot of support. She needs movement buffs and her short melee range really limits her choices due to the number of models with unpredictable movement. Overall, I have seen some success with her but only at the cost of other players I'd probably rather field. V.Harmony I love taking with her, but again that choice is very situational (brewers or alchemists). I feel if granite was brought up to 4/6" movement (same as brick), her utility would be much more improved, but Brick's counter-charge ensures that he gets the spot in most games.

    Here is a fun one for you. Drop 2 Influence from each captain. Now drop any Legendary Play. Now make a team with no captain and any mascot you want. Who is your team? EDIT: To add a few constraints and clear up vagueness. Captains can now play where ever and are considered "friendly guild models." You may still use any mascot. Other normal team building rules apply.

  10. I played my first demo game the other day after buying the kick off set. The rules are by and large nice and simple but I can see the interactions and tactics being complex and the real depth of the game, ace stuff. The main query I had was using Family to copy stats from honour to harmony. Mainly when honour has negatives already applied. My example was that I had given smashed shins to honour, making her kick -4/-4. Now when we triggered family, we played it that the stats copied were reduced by -4/-4 so harmony gained the higher tax but ended up having worse kick. we felt this played ok, but also seemed a bit overpowered by being able to use one modifier to affect two players, I know they can choose to not copy the stats. my issue is I cannot find a timing structure of clarification post on if family always just takes the printed card value regardless of modifiers on honour, and then copies across and then any buffs/debugged for harmony then work against her new base stats. or do certain debuts that clearly are aimed at changing the base stats of a model, like smashed shins, do affect the copied value. apologies if this has been answered but I could not find a thread that gave a clear examples of this interaction, which seems like something that would benefit a lot, as I found quite a few puzzled people. so what I'd like to know basically, is does family always just copy the printers on card values. If not under what conditions does that change and an official examples of the different condition types and how they affect this please.

  13. Masons Civil War

    So tomorrow the Gamers Guild Guildball League comes to a close with the Masons Vs Masons Final. 18 Coaches set out to be the best but in the end only the 2 masons coaches are left. We(Fabian & me),overconfindentally, predicted this at the start of the league ;-) but never knew it might become a reality. To make sure we don't play mirror, this is the system we are going to use: - Roll of - winning coach can pick captain first. - Then we alternate, choosing the remaining roster. - 6th player will be a union model. Harmony & VetHarmony count as 1 model, so whoever takes Harmony has the option of playing regular or veteran. Who will come out victorius in the Mason Civil War! Bets can be placed with the Parlay, the Bookmakers Guild captain.

  18. SO! Marbles is rubbish. (?)

    There was a lot of handbags going on between Boar, Tower and Brick. Marbles was standing just to the left of Tower. Boar had charged Tower to be countercharged by Brick. After he had stood up again he hit Tower who counter attacked. 2 wounds on Tower. Tower pushed Boar 3" out of reach of him but still engaged by Marbles. Boar sensibly decided not to hit the monkey. Honour had 6INF on her and was within walking distance of the melee. She walked into contact with Boar. Getting 8 dice because he was engaged by the monkey 1 for crowding out and 1 because the monkey is Marbles. She had been 'Tooled up' by Tower earlier. She got 5 hits Boar. then rolled another 8 dice. She rolled NO '1'. She chose the & thus doing 10 damage with the 1 INF. This removed Boar from the field of play and gained her 2 MP & 2 VP. With the rest of her INF she Super Strat. herself. (Whilst this was going on Mallet was being beaten up by the dog, Ox and Shank.) She then walked 6" kicked 6" and scored the winning goal. None of which could have happened if Marbles had not been brilliant at supporting Honour. Bill

  20. Alternative masons

    So I've got limited experience with the masons at the moment and I'd like to run this team.. Honour, marbles, Flint, mist, chisel and??? I like the double threat and striking capabilities of having both Flint and mist, I think harmony is bad and I'm not really a big fan of brick (could be wrong) so it leaves mallet and he seems to make the most sense. Anyone run this setup or found a good synergy for chisel.
  21. Responsive Play allows a free attack when an enemy ends it's advance in Honour's melee range. So if she gets charged, she can hit back after the first round of hits and (hopefully) dodge out? Or can she attack before getting hit, as they've ended their advance?! Bit rusty folks, sorry of this is plainly obvious.

  24. Two questions about Honour / Harmony interactions: 1) Does Harmony copy Honour's base TAC or her modified TAC? ex Honour gains +1 TAC from [effect]. Is Harmony's TAC 6 or 7? 2) If Silence has Harmony under Shout Out (must be activated last), can Harmony be activated through Linked if there are still other Mason's models that have not activated this turn?
